SPRINT TRAINING SESSION PACKAGES

THE RESOLUTE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Speed is arguably the most desired trait for any athlete, no matter the sport or position.

If that is the case, then why is hardly any time spent training correct sprint technique throughout all levels and ages of sport?

If your an athlete who either hasn't received sprint training before, or you feel like you aren't being exposed to enough high end stimuli at training, then these sprint training session packages are for you.

You could be forgiven for believing that the same sprint training principles are can be easily transferrable from track and field athletes to team sports. However, what you may be missing is the undeniable impact of sport - specific influences on the motor patterns of team sport athletes during gameplay.

Rather than solely aiming to explode out of the blocks and sprint in a straight line, the heightened and somewhat unpredictable demands means that they have to be fast and agile in a multitude of situations across multiple planes of movement.

This is the main reason as to why some team sport athletes will never realise their full potential; they aren't being exposed to top end speed scenarios in the context of their sport. This means that when they get out onto the field or court, their body is not prepared to be fast in game - specific situations.

Similar to the issues facing resistance training programs, the limited focus on sprint training means that athletes are made susceptible to the ridiculous looking drills spruiked by the glamorous "fitness influencers" of the coaching underworld (don't get us started on those bloody ladders). These drills may look fancy, but at the end of the day are a complete waste of time because of the aforementioned lack of sport - specificity.

If you're seeking to become the fastest, most agile athlete you can possibly become, then reach out now.

If you're to sit down and watch sport on the weekend, you'll often hear commentators drooling over one particular ability.

SPEED.

Whether it's the fastest man on the planet, Josh "The Fox" Addo - Carr, or seemingly the most popular beach sprint champion in the world, Damien Cook, athletes are often judged on how quickly they can move across the playing surface.

Despite the lack of historical data, I am a strong believer that significant enhancements in sports science and associated technology has heavily influenced the development of faster athletes, particularly over the last decade or so. Much is the desire for speed in modern sport that the once revered tall, lanky wingers are being replaced by faster, and often shorter, athletes. The prime example of this is Corey Oates, an Origin representative, dropped at the beginning of the 2024 NRL season for simply not being "fast enough".

WHY DO MOST ATHLETES NEVER REALISE THEIR FULL SPEED POTENTIAL?

Growing up, I was just like thousands of other kids, watching my heroes running around on the weekend dreaming about one thing, becoming a professional athlete. And just like what seems to be the story of every strength and

conditioning coach out there, I just simply did not cut it. Was it genetics? Was it my training? Was it my nutrition? Was I mentally not strong enough?

Hindsight can be a wonderful thing. Looking back, it there could be arguments for all four of these points. However, what it all boiled down to was I simply just not big enough, fast enough, strong enough or confident enough.

It took me until I started coaching in junior representative programs to fully appreciate the magnitude of the role the aforementioned factors, in particular sprint training, plays in the development and overall success of both up and coming, and elite athletes. I have been very fortunate to be able to work with some amazing strength and conditioning coach across many different elite sporting environments over the years. These opportunities have taught me many things. But one thing I have observed is that sprint training is not getting the attention it so desperately deserves.

Why is this the case?

Is it because of the limited face to face time coaches have with athletes? Is it clashes in priorities or coaching philosophies?

Who knows. However, one thing I do know is that elite sprint training are no longer solely reserved for elite athletic environments. Here at Resolute Strength and Conditioning, you have access to the training you need to succeed, no matter your sporting discipline.

So, if you have an unwavering desire to become the fastest, most agile athlete you can possibly be, then you have come to the right place.

Don't delay your journey to success any longer.
